LAKE CHARLES, LA – The 2026 high school baseball season opened with a performance for the history books. At the legendary Barbe High School field, the Buccaneers began their quest for another state title with a flawless 10-0 victory over Acadiana, headlined by a rare and historic “Perfect Game” from their senior ace.

In a display of absolute command, the right-handed pitcher—a projected first-round MLB Draft pick—retired all 18 batters he faced in a game shortened by the mercy rule. He struck out 15 of those 18 batters, utilizing a fastball that touched 98 MPH and a sharp 12-6 curveball that left hitters guessing all afternoon.

Offensive Fireworks in Lake Charles

The Buccaneers’ bats provided plenty of support for their dominant pitcher. Barbe exploded for six runs in the second inning, punctuated by a towering grand slam from senior outfielder Landon Victorian. The team showed incredible discipline at the plate, drawing five walks and consistently finding gaps in the Acadiana defense.

“You don’t see a performance like that every day,” Barbe’s head coach remarked. “We know he has the talent, but his focus today was on another level. When your pitcher is throwing a perfect game, it gives the whole dugout a massive surge of energy.”

With several players on the roster drawing significant interest from MLB scouts and top-tier collegiate programs, every game this season will be a high-stakes showcase. The Buccaneers look ahead to their next challenge at the Perfect Game High School Showdown in Georgia next weekend.
