ORANGE, CA – In a high-stakes battle for Trinity League supremacy, Orange Lutheran (OLu) showcased its offensive depth and tactical discipline to secure a pivotal 12-9 victory over Santa Margarita on Wednesday night. The win keeps the Lancers undefeated in league play and solidifies their status as the frontrunners for the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs.
The Lancers were led by senior attacker Allison Cohen, who delivered a hat trick in the first half alone, finishing with five goals. Despite a spirited fourth-quarter rally from Santa Margarita, OLu’s defensive rotation held firm. Goalkeeper Gabby West was instrumental in the closing minutes, recording three crucial saves on man-down situations to prevent a comeback.
“Our goal was to dictate the tempo from the opening sprint,” OLu’s head coach stated. “Santa Margarita is a disciplined team, but our ability to convert on power plays made the difference tonight.”
The victory serves as a major statement for Orange Lutheran as they prepare for the prestigious SoCal Championships later this month.
