NEWPORT BEACH, CA – Newport Harbor sent a clear message to the rest of the CIF Southern Section on Friday night. In a highly anticipated non-conference match, the Sailors showcased their depth and aerial dominance, completing a decisive 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-19, 25-18) over Loyola High School.

The Sailors’ offense was spearheaded by outside hitter Riggs Guy, who tallied 15 kills and three aces. Newport Harbor’s blocking at the net, led by middle blocker Jack Richardson, frustrated the Cubs’ attackers throughout the night, holding Loyola to their lowest hitting percentage of the season.

“Our chemistry is ahead of schedule,” said Sailors coach. “Beating a program like Loyola this early gives us a great blueprint for what we need to polish before league play begins.”

With this win, Newport Harbor cements its position as a top-three contender in the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) national rankings for the boys’ division.
