MAPLEWOOD, MN – The road to the Minnesota State Tournament just got a lot clearer for the Hill-Murray Pioneers. In a commanding performance on Tuesday night, the Pioneers secured a 4-0 shutout against rival Stillwater, effectively locking in the top seed for the upcoming Section 4AA playoffs.
Junior goaltender Grace Cumming was the star of the night, turning away 28 shots to earn her eighth shutout of the season. The Pioneers’ offense was equally relentless, with sophomore sensation Chloe Boreen netting two goals in the second period to break the game open. Hill-Murray, currently ranked in the top five statewide, looks like a formidable contender to hoist the trophy at the Xcel Energy Center this February.
With the win, the Pioneers improve to 18-3-1, showcasing the kind of depth and defensive discipline that has become their hallmark under the Minnesota lights.
